Refunds & Cancellations

We’re confident that you will be thrilled with your wedding dress redesign creations!. We understand, however, that sometimes an alteration may not be what you expected it to be.  We advise you to review the following terms related to refunds, returns, and subsequent alterations to adjust original redesign alterations.

Each garment produced to fulfill a product order is subjectively-styled and custom-tailored by professional seamstresses. By product purchase, the customer agrees and accepts that we do not offer any performance guarantees, refunds, exchanges or returns for products made by alterations to original garments that have been provided by customers and used for their redesign.

Refunds and cancellations for orders are only permitted for an order (with the exception of rush orders) within 24 hours of placing an order and/or providing payment details to www.unboxthedress (“initial purchase”).

If a refund or cancellation is requested after 24 hours of the initial purchase, it is at the sole discretion of www.unboxthedress.com to refund or cancel the order less a $25 service fee charge. The reason for this policy is that once an order is placed and or a Design Call occurs and a redesign production order begins, work on the garment commences shortly thereafter and expenses are incurred  as part of the garment care and redesign process.

When Unbox the Dress and a customer commence a business relationship (defined as starting at the time of the initial sale when payment information is provided to www.unboxthedress.com) and whereby Graceful Sewers perform an alteration and/or a tailoring service in exchange for payment, the customer clearly understands and accepts that there is a risk associated with redesigning and then tailoring a garment, since tailoring a garment involves subjective interpretation and there is no objective way to measure the quality and satisfaction related to an alteration, in full or part, although we make every endeavor to provide clear and transparent information to manage customer expectations during in the garment redesign process.

The customer understands that Graceful Sewers may alter and/or tailor a garment such that the customer could be unhappy with the final result for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to: the original garment (following an alteration) is deemed unalterable, damaged or unfixable. In any of these aforementioned events, Graceful Sewers will contact the customer but not provide a refund or exchange. In the event that a garment is deemed unalterable, defective or damaged by a customer following Graceful Sewers work on a garment, Unbox the Dress cannot provide a refund or exchange and will not replace the garment or compensate the customer for the replacement cost or re-sale value of the garment. The customer understands and accepts that the original garment she is providing for redesign will be irreversibly altered from its original form.

However, in the event of an unfavorable end product, the Company will make best faith efforts (at its sole discretion) to try to remedy the final product. If you are unhappy with the garment redesign product you receive for any reason, we are committed to working with you to achieve an amicable solution.

Our expected timeline for completing redesign alterations from start to finish is 8-10 weeks, subject to change. While we do our best to meet this expected timeframe, timing is subject to change (without notice) based on a range of factors. Even if there is a material delay in the timeframe with respect to a client alteration, refunds and/or cancellations are not permitted under any circumstance.

For customers seeking alterations before the standard delivery timeframe, the option for express surcharges and express shipping may be a solution.

Redesign Warranties

We will guarantee our tailoring work for your finished garment up until 30 days of the receipt of your finished product ship date indicated on your receipt. This means we will be only responsible for repairing any seam separation, holes, tears, broken zippers that result from  everyday wear and tear. The company will not be responsible for garment fit, fabric staining and discoloration, or garment fraying after the delivery of finished goods given the older material the customer provides the company for garment redesign.

Customers that do not elect to purchase the White Glove Clean, Care & Repair service in advance of redesign wedding dress alterations are responsible for the proper cleaning of redesigned garment fabrics they receive as a result of our process.

After 30 days of receipt of items, the client will be responsible for his or her respective garment(s) and will be held fully responsible for any purported issues. Unbox the Dress reserves the right (at its sole discretion) to make best faith efforts to remedy the situation after the 30-day period, provided that the client notifies us by email that he/she would like us to take a look at the garment(s) to see if there is a potential solution.

Service Fee

By entering into a business relationship with Unbox the Dress, you agree to our “Service Fee,” which will be applied to all transactions for tailoring and alterations as of 1/1/2020 at  our Graceful Design Studio. This Service Fee applies an 8.5 percent service charge to the total bill for each client transaction.

Redesign Garment Wear and Tear

Upon receiving your tailored redesigned dress garments, it is your sole responsibility to inspect your garments and report any damages or defects to a member of our staff within 7 business days. You can also email grace@unboxthedress.com with any issues.

We strive to provide the finest redesign and tailoring services available. We cannot be responsible for damages that are caused by personal wear and/or wear and tear that is caused from use or overuse. To be clear, our warranty does not cover damage caused by a personal accident, improper care (i.e., excessive dry cleaning or mishandling by your dry cleaner), negligence, normal wear and tear, high heat from ironing, humidity or the natural breakdown of colors and materials over extended time and use.
Please keep in mind that certain satin, tulle and lace fabrics can be very delicate; garments need to be treated with the finest care. If you want some recommendations on best practices to enhance the longevity of your garments, please reach out to us. Dry-cleaning your garments regularly is not recommended. Most dry cleaners use harmful chemicals and agents that destroy or breakdown the fabric, thereby diminishing performance and durability.

Extra Fabric Return Policy

Often there is excess fabric following initial wedding dress redesign. We offer customer several options to safely store and protect their excess fabrics at our facility in our Dress Vault with climate-control conditions until they choose to make additional items from their dress, for a modest month to month service fee.

We will keep all extra fabrics from your dress garments at our facility for a grace period of 3 months (from the date of your first purchase). After that point, should the customer not elect for the month to month professional fabric protection service, we will donate your excess fabrics. By using our initial dress redesign service, you agree that we are not liable for the loss of your excess fabrics after the 3 month grace period following the initial redesign process.

Should a customer elect to have excess fabrics return to her following receipt of her order, she is responsible for a Shipping & Handling. Payment must be received with confirmation of return shipping address before the remaining fabric is returned.
