Unbox the Dress Month of Love: Love Stories Part 2

Continue to Celebrate the Month of Love with Unbox the Dress!

At Unbox the Dress, our heirlooms have either inspired, or have been incorporated in some pretty amazing love stories. Hearing such beautiful stories truly spark a renewed sense of hope. We thought, "Why keep this to ourselves?"

Right now, the world needs all the love it can get. In February, Unbox the Dress is doing our part by spreading messages of love throughout our social media channels. We're delighted to share with you another round of the submissions we graciously received.

So sit back, enjoy, and be inspired by the beauty of love... Part 2!

Founder Grace Rojek told her now finance Josh Lightner about her idea for Unbox the Dress over dinner on one of their very first dates. Josh has supported Grace’s dream since the start – from being the go-to muscle while setting up at bridal fairs early on to moving to a new state with Grace to open the company’s North Carolina headquarters. The two were set to wed in July 2020 – and like many of our resilient clients had to postpone their nuptials due to COVID. “I feel blessed every single day to do what we do – and we wouldn’t be here today without Josh’s love, faith and support. He’s my best friend!” Says Grace.

"My story is simple. My husband and I started dating our senior year of high school and got married a year later. We have grown up together, we have bought and sold homes, had four beautiful children, we came to know Jesus  together and have grieved loss together. My wedding band got so thin after 25 years it cracked. The jeweler that repaired my ring complimented me on my vintage ring and expressed how rare it was these days. I'm so happy to have found the love of my life and that we are still happy and blissfully together!

I had two daughters get married in 2020, which were both highlights of our year! One of our girls was married just days before my husband and I celebrated our 27th year anniversary! One got a bouquet wrap and the other a custom veil made for my wedding dress. In addition, I was able to get something made for my other children, their spouses, myself and my husband and father. It makes me feel good to know apart of mine and my husband's marriage will be apart of my children's also! I wish them the same love and longevity that me and their dad have experienced!" -Charlene H.

"My fiancé Dan and I have been together for over 5 years. Throughout the years, Dan grew to be a true member of my family and my parents have come to love him as much as they love their own children. Once my mom saw that he could potentially be “the one”, she sat me down and told me she has been saving her diamond in her own engagement ring to be passed down to me, when Dan and I are ready. I was so excited to find out that the diamond in my mother’s ring was also once used by her mother, my Grammy, which was passed down from her mother, my Great Grandma, which was passed down from HER mother, my Great GREAT Grandma! To know a diamond that has such sentimental value would one day sit upon my own finger was such a special feeling.
A few years later, Dan took the plunge and proposed on July 12, 2020 with a beautiful vintage-inspired rose gold ring, finished with the gorgeous diamond passed along through generations. At my ceremony, I plan to honor all of the women in my love legacy. I got Unbox the Dress items made for myself, my mom, and my Grammy using my mom's dress and Grammy's veil. I'm so honored to be loved by such amazing women and also so excited to marry the love of my life!" - Rebecca S.
Last but not least, I'd like to take a moment to honor a very special mother/daughter love story- my own! As I fondly call her "my favorite girl", "doll", or "peach"- all descriptions are extremely fitting. My mother is the most amazing person I've ever met. I don't just say this because she's my mother, but because I've seen her in action first-hand. A passionate educator for nearly 30 years, her life's work is helping others and giving children roots to grow and wings to fly. She's taught me all the best things in life. My love for people, appreciation for music and art, and my knack for entertaining all stem from her. As a grow older, our relationship has evolved and includes a lot of balance and support. Ironically, but specially enough, we share the same favorite rappers as well as bible verse.
"And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love."
1 Corinthians 13:13.
I'll keep the rappers amongst us! - Victoria W. Unbox the Dress Marketing Associate
